Founder & Attorney - Kent Phelps
As a second-generation estate planning attorney with over 25 years of experience, Kent Phelps appreciates the positive impact a customized estate plan can have on his clients and the generations that follow. Without considering estate planning, family members can be left in confusion, turmoil, or worse, after a loved one passes.
That is why his focus is on creating comprehensive estate plans that fulfill the wishes of professionals, business owners, and retirees – enabling a transition that protects the remaining beneficiaries.
His vision is simple and powerful: provide every client with an exceptional legal planning experience. With a decade spent in the courtroom as a trial attorney, Kent understands how to help clients and their families protect against predatory lawsuits and stay out of court.
Kent is recognized in the media as an estate planning authority. He has been featured in ABC News, NBC News, FOX News and Bloomberg Law.
When Kent is not at the office and growing the firm, he enjoys spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He’s determined to keep up with his kids while snowboarding and is an avid wilderness backpacker. Kent has backpacked to the bottom (and back out!) of the Grand Canyon 14 times.

Attorney - Darren Watts
Serving Clients in Utah and Colorado
Darren Watts has been helping clients with their estate planning needs for over 15 years. In recent years he narrowed his practice to focus exclusively on estate planning. His experience in other areas of law over his 18 years as an attorney, however, provides a unique perspective from which his clients benefit.
Darren has practiced in family law, so he knows the necessity of harmony in planning and the discord that financial issues can cause and will help you avoid them. He has also practiced bankruptcy law and can help you make sure that poor decisions by your beneficiaries will not affect your estate. Darren also practiced in criminal law as both a prosecutor and defense attorney and will be able to steer you clear of any action in your planning that would endanger your estate due to criminal charges. Finally, he has also been involved in business and general litigation and can look for pitfalls that could bring predatory lawsuits against you or your estate.
Darren continues his love of music by singing in the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, as well as taking advantage of other performance opportunities in the community as they arise. He has performed the bass solos for Handel’s Messiah, Faure’s Requiem, and Schubert’s Mass in G as well as others.
He and his wife enjoy showing the country and its beauties to their four children. Darren also loves the game of golf, but that love is not often reciprocated.
